Welcome! Micro-PedSim is an
innovative research tool for microscopic (multi-agents system) pedestrian
traffic simulation. Micro-PedSim gives you the power
to visualize and simulate pedestrian agents movement behavior
microscopically. You can generate pedestrians
either manually, through text file, or automatically, in randomly
distributed or systematic way, specify the parameters, and doing
some experiments with it. You can also calibrate the simulation
in time and space. The output of the simulation can be shown in
either real time simulation, in 2D visualization, path tracing,
performance values which can be saved in files for your further
analysis in MS Excel or Matlab.
This website is for the use of all people wishing
to download and learn more about the Micro-PedSim, its
technical capabilities and application areas. Micro-PedSim
can be freely downloaded from this site.

Q1.
What is Micro-PedSim?
Micro-PedSim is an innovative software tool for microscopic
pedestrian traffic simulation. It simulates pedestrian movement
based on force models. Every pedestrian in the model is treated
as an individual and be seen in two dimensional space from above.
Q2.
What can I do using Micro-PedSim?
Micro-PedSim is useful to perform computer experiment
about behavior of pedestrians. It is a great research tools to
study pedestrian behaviors. It gives links between microscopic
level of behaviors and macroscopic level of pedestrian traffic
analysis. Many practical applications can be derived from your
own research using this software.
Check the user manual for more explanation how to use the software.
Q3.
How can I know the concept behind this software?
The author of Micro-PedSim has provided his papers
and dissertation
that can also be downloaded for free of charge.
Q4.
What platform of operating system the Micro-PedSim can
run?
Micro-PedSim is available only for Windows 9x and above
(including Windows 2000, Millennium, and XP).
Q5.
What is the latest version?
Micro-PedSim Version 1.3 is the latest made by March
2003.
Q6.
Is Micro-PedSim really for Free
Yes. The author do not charge you any cost. You can download,
use and distribute the binary files. However, this is not open
source software. The source files are not distributed.
Q7.
Where can I find help to use Micro-PedSim?
There is no Help file for this current version, but you can read
the user manual, or discuss with people
in the research discussion group or contact
the author.
Q8.
How to Install Micro-PedSim 1.3?
1. Download SetUp.zip
from Micro-PedSim page.
2. Unzip the SetUp.zip file into a temporary folder
3. Select Setup.exe and press enter or Double click
4. Follow the wizard setup until Finish.
Q9. Why do I found runtime-error
: '13' Type mismatch
when I run the simulation?
Micro - PedSim 1.3 has internationalization problem from people
who use computer with regional setting other than English (e.g German,
Dutch, etc.). Please try to change your regional setting of numbers in
Control Panel to use point as decimal separation (e.g. 10,000.05
rather than 10.000,05). It will work properly again.
I hope to get rid of that problem in the next version.
